REVIEW: CoverGirl Peacock Flare Mascara

Receiving blogger mail is probably one of the biggest perks that comes with all of the hard work that goes into running and maintaining a blog. I was completely taken aback when I got a small package from CoverGirl that included their new Peacock Flare mascara.

Before I start to review the product itself, I would just like to take the time to thank CoverGirl for sending me this product to review. I have a relatively small following and the fact that a brand as massive as CoverGirl even sent me one product in the mail honestly just blows me away.

Out of all the brand’s mascaras, I feel like this is the best job that CoverGirl has done in terms of physical presentation. This is a big step up for their packaging game, as the Lash Blast and Colossal lines were very plain and didn’t have much innovation behind the look of the product in comparison to Peacock Flare.

This mascara however comes in a beautiful reflective teal casing with accents of black, and actually has a rubber grip on the upper half of the product, which is truly amazing in my opinion. I have gotten dangerously close to poking my eye out with mascara wands because they would always manage to slip out of my hands whenever I did my makeup.

The wand itself is very narrow and lean, as is the case with most mascaras that claim to lengthen your lashes. The bristles on the wand spiral around, creating an almost helix-like structure, which does look pretty darn cool if I don’t say so myself.

Overall, the packing is sleek and dare I say chic, I would rate it a 10/10 for sure.

According to CoverGirl’s website,

“Lashes get full-on length and definition with COVERGIRL Peacock Flare Mascara. A control grip handle gives you the precision to catch every lash as the feather-fan brush catches, coats and separates each lash for maximum effect. “

I have very short lashes compared to most people, so I’m always looking forward to trying more lengthening mascaras since there are in fact days (sigh) where I’m too lazy to put on a pair of false lashes.

The shade I received, Extreme Black, was the perfect shade of black for my abnormally dark eyelashes. This product comes in 5 shades total, all various shades of black.

This mascara followed through on what it has claimed to do; it did a pretty good job at making my lashes appear longer and separated. Because it is a lengthening formula, I wasn’t all too upset that it didn’t make my lashes appear as full as I normally would like for them to be. The formula is pretty durable too, while it doesn’t claim to be waterproof, whenever my eyes would water during the day (I wasn’t crying, my eyes usually start to well up right before a big sneeze, thank you) my mascara wouldn’t go streaking down my face, which is always a huge plus in the world of mascara wearers.

Overall, I was very much pleased with this product and even more surprised (yet extremely thankful) that it was sent to me at a time where I was giving up on the mascara I had been trying out for the past few months that I ultimately ended up hating (Sorry, but my Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara just wasn’t cutting it). I definetely see myself repurchasing this product again in the future as it is now one of my essentials to my everyday makeup routine
